14th May 2009 - Queenstown - Western Tasmania

A visit to Queenstown is a must do on your visit to Tasmania. Although some of the roads make it a bit hairy for big rigs, the effort is worthwhile. We were fortunate enough to find the Horsetail falls in full flow. Queenstown has a reasonable shopping centre with two IGA supermarkets, a chemist, hotels and a couple of cake shops. A visit to the station reveals historic photos and some relics of days gone by. The old station has been restored and a walk along the platform brings back many memories. There are several campsites on the way to Derwent Bridge that are suitable for overnight camping.

GPS: 42°06'54.0"S - 146°10'38.0"E (Cynthia Bay Campground).
